The engineering discipline is one of the four pillars of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. The scope of study of engineering courses extends to the application of science and mathematics concepts to solve the problems of the real world through building and designing things. The term ‘engineering’ has stemmed from the Latin word ‘ingenium’ and ‘ingenaire’ which means cleverness and to devise respectively. This field of study relies primarily on logical, creative, and rational thinking skills. Engineers evaluate, design, develop, test and modify a variety of products right from giant bridges, tunnels, highways, and machines to small cell membranes and robust software applications. An engineer’s degree entails planning, process and overlooking the manufacturing of things to consulting or teaching the art of engineering to the students and trainees. Famous examples of engineering wonders around the world include the Pyramids of Giza, The Colosseum, Machu Picchu, Stirling Castle, etc. In the past couple of years, the most in-demand jobs in engineering jobs were Data Science and Machine Learning, Automation and Robotics Engineering, Civil Engineers, Petroleum Engineers, Alternative Energy Engineers, Project Engineers, etc.
